Get Involved in The PeerPlate Project

There are different ways to take part in The PeerPlate Project as it develops.

The project begins with PeerPlate Focus Groups, where people connected to mental health peer work identify what the program needs to understand about food, nutrition, and peer work.

The focus group findings will be combined with a review of the existing research, then used in the PeerPlate Design Workshops, where peer workers and researchers will design the PeerPlate Program.

The program will then be offered to WA peer workers as an opportunity to build nutrition knowledge and skills while contributing to research that supports the peer workforce.

Focus Groups

Phase ONE

Registrations open now

Share your experience of food, nutrition, and peer work.

Focus Groups are 90-minute online discussions for people with experience of, or a connection to, mental health peer work in Western Australia.

The focus groups will identify what the PeerPlate Program needs to understand before it is designed.

Design Workshops

Phase TWO

Registration opening late 2026

Build nutrition education as peer workers, for peer workers.

Design Workshops will bring peer workers and the research team together to build the PeerPlate Program.

This stage will shape the topics, language, format, activities, and resources used in the program.

Phase THREE

Coming in 2027

Be part of nutrition education built by peer workers, for peer workers.

The PeerPlate Program will be the first version of the food and nutrition education program developed through the project.

Peer workers will take part in the program and provide feedback on whether it is useful, practical, and suitable for peer work.

Let’s create something meaningful together.

The timing for each stage of The PeerPlate Project will develop as the research progresses.

Right now, the main way to take part is to join a PeerPlate Focus Group. You can also subscribe to the Research Bulletin to follow the project and be notified when future opportunities open, including Design Workshops and the PeerPlate Program.
